    “Thailand Food Tours, Bangkok”

great way to see the true Bangkok. Do not request pick up from Hotel if you are near the railway because it is so easy to get to the meeting point very cheaply. Pick up is very expensive. It was our first time in Bangkok so very worthwhile especially as you walked round the streets and really got the feel of the city. Food was to die for off the beaten track

    “Excellent knowledge and friendly guide”

I came to Thailand as a solo traveller and as I have an interest in food opted for the foodie chinatown night walk. This was lead by Gai a young Thai gentleman with excellent English who was very knowledgable about the locale as expected. Alongside my self there were 3 others (usually max of 6 guests). We started off looking at a couple of temples to get us orientated in the district and after 45 mins or so made it onto the food!

There was an excellent array of food which started at a small dim sum restaurant and then led into varities of street food, soups, buns, fish, ice creams, rice etc. Each time gai would keep us guessing as to what was next and you felt you were really getting a taste of real Thai food alongside tips on what to chose when going solo. It was a great experience walking through th ecrowded markets of Chinatown at night and we left extremely full and happy! Food does hop between sweet and savoury and there was a wait at one very busy fish restaurant. The tour itslef totalled just under 4 hours which was pretty long but all in all highly recommended!

    “A very tasty tour”

What can I say, one of the best tours we have done! We had a very short time in Bangkok, so wanted to make the most of it and by adding this tour we certainly did. As we were not arriving back into Bangkok from Kanchanaburi until at least 6pm, we were unable to book onto the regular tour, so we opted for a private tour.

We were met at our Chinatown hotel (Loy La Long) by our guide Gai (sp?). A very friendly, polite, knowledgable young man with an excellent command of English. Gai took us on an amazing walking tour around Chinatown which was more than just a gastronomic tour. Gai showed us how we would be starting at the head of the dragon and making our way to its stomach! Along the way we learnt about the serious art of collecting amulets, saw the hotel used in the movie The Hangover 2 and many other interesting snippets of local information :-) Of course the main objective was food! We made various stops to taste the array of foods available in Chinatown. These ranged from restaurants to foodstalls.

Most of these places we would have walked right past and not stopped even to look, let alone taste had we been on our own. Just some of the tastings were: Peppered pork, pork buns, prawns at a famous seafood restaurant, herbal tea (one was far too bitter for our western tastes ;-) ).

A big surprise was the durian. My husband had never tried it before & I had never made past putting it in my mouth and spitting it out! Gai knew just the place that sells the perfect durian with sticky rice. The smell was not overpowering and the "toilet" taste was not there, leaving the taste buds to enjoy the creaminess of this fruit and it went down perfectly with sticky rice! Just a few of the tasty treats enjoyed during the evening.

From here Gai hailed a tuk tuk to take us the short distance to the flower market – with special instructions to the driver to hold back on the crazy driving that tuk tuk drivers are renowned for! What a perfect way for us to end the evening, wandering around the flower market, watching the Thai people making their flower purchases.

I have never seen so many flowers in the one place. As our hotel was tucked away within the grounds of a temple, Gai was worried that the taxi would not be able to find it. To ensure our safe return, he accompanied us all the way back to the hotel. Excellent tour, excellent service, excellent guide, thank you. They have a variety of tours to choose from, so when we return to Bangkok we will definitely take another tour with Bangkok Food Tours.

    “Great overview of local cuisine”

My wife and I recently did the Bangkrak food tour, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a great way to sample some local restaurants and dishes that we never would’ve found on our own. Our tour guide was also extremely informative, and added a lot of great conversation along the way. Highly recommended for anyone interested in exploring Thai cuisine while in Bangkok!

    “Thailand that only locals experience…”

What and amazing tour! We have been taken away from concrete and shopping jungles to see hidden Thailand that normally only locals can access. Fresh food markets was an amazing experience that reminded me what food can look, smell and taste like.

Tasted so many flavors that it was hard to choose which was my favorite; all of them were so good! Whisked away to a quiet boat ride (no noisy engines!), seeing how locals live, work and can enjoy life and food. All of that under constant care of a very knowledgeable and friendly local guide (perfect English – what a relief!). All I had to do was to 100% enjoy the day, tastes, smells and the after lunch massage that made me wonder – what if I just stayed here…
